going forward in reverse.
Still, he who laughs last is just a hand in the bush.
BUILDING MOMENTUM MOVING FORWARD ( in reverse..)
Mayor Henry's speech- rebuttal- "Lipstick on a Warthog"
moving forward in reverse.
like Lipstick on a Warthog
its just a hole in the purse
time to stop this impending ship wreck before we're all SUNK.
"The Kings Speech"- moving forward, building momentum. full steam ahead.. i largley disagree- full steam ahead into an ice field.. nice "warm and fuzzy" sales pitch, long on "ooey -gooey"- short on financial particulars.. (more in comments..)http://blog.chron.com/mormonvoice/files/2012/09/titanic5.jpg
LIPSTICK ON A WARTHOG.
FORT WAYNE'S NEW MASCOT- MATILDA THE WALTZING WARTHOG..
SHES NOT PRETTY, BUT SOME LIPSTICK AND SOME PERFUME; A FANCY HAT AND YOU CAN TAKE HER TO TOWN FOR A GOOD TIME.. CALL.
STATE OF THE CITY? LIPSTICK ON A WARTHOG- THROUGH ROSE COLORED GLASSES. ( whats the Mayor smoking; and where can We all get some? hes out of touch with reality.. early dementia?
well lets see- no mention of all the FUN awards- "fat drunk and stupid";
all those jobs created by the dubious method of "tax abatements"- aka "corporate welfare"- to the tune of 600 million bucks-according to a recent public notice legal statement.
no mention of how much the St Mary's river tunnel project will cost- 300 million bucks or more
as for the riverfront project- well- where will the cash come from from the "downtown trust fund"?- that is money from Somewhere; and came from soneone- for specific purposes. _ if its private sector and private donations- wel im mostly fine with it.
On a positive note- I think the Pepsi plant buildings will make very cool suitable shop space for the 756- sheltered, near by to draw the curious; room for other RR related interesting things..
the SCHAAB sheet metal building- should be preserved.
Im asking how much the tax payers will be on the hook - for the Pepsi cola company to be re located and where? one of these "shovel ready Sites? plenty of vacant land.. too much..?
The river front project - looks like all the trees will be paved over and replaced with floating concrete BARGES- ( WW2 D-DAY MULBERRYS? ) - TO RISE AND FALL WITH THE RIVER LEVELS?
thenwe have the issue of water qualit coming from the St marys river UPSTREAM- lots of farm run off- so bad the "grand lake st marys- is as bad as lake erie for toxic algae blooms..
Who is going to pay for all the new riverfront relocation of business on the NORTH SIDE of the St Marys river?
OK- the homeless - are still homeless until april when the Mayor will get a nice photo op with ?? senator Donnelly??- handing Henry a 4X8 cardboard "check"- from the federal govt? to show what a swell job Mayor Henry and trustee richardson for that matter are doing?
a MAYORS JOB FAIR- SWELL- Ive been "job shopping" at all the previous local ones- I keep seeing the exact same things- over priced colleges with proimises of jobs; and promises of neverending loan debt to the heavens; AND- the same old tired employers- Factories desperate for help for verious reasons- typicaly out of town; out of allen county; 12 hr rotating shifts,, surely NOT UAW wages or benefits-
they still havent figured out the new de industrialized economy- 1- that people are avoiding "HIGH-TECH MANUFACTURING like a plague- because thos jobs go overseas; outsourced off shored etc- and ther e isnt anything in the world that china or Indian cant make or do- HI-THACS manufacturing "- shang hai china- etc- that cant be made just as good a qualityo for pennies of wages on the us dollar..
UNDEREMPLOYMENT? DOH! somany PROVERBIAL local college grads- living in their parents basement- because they cant find any decent paying jobs here in fort wayne..
want t fix the homeless problem? for 200 bucks a person- a greyhound bus ticket to Houston Texas- warm- so no one will freeze to death; plenty of oil;gas; energy related work- that pays well; and theres plenty of homeless resources from oil corp cash.
and its far enough away - once they are gone- wel- likely not returning.. I would say INDY; or DC- because THAT is where the HOMELESS problen orginates; but it freezes in the winter..VOLUNTARY- like either heres a bus ticket- or suffer in frigid misery until you change your mind..
IF they have family- why are they on the streets? hmmmm.
the socialservice network- is long and complex and for an average JOE SCHMOE that is out in the streets- well- YOU or I would have trouble navigating the FLOWCHART..
in short(LOL>>)- LIPSTICK ON A WARTHOG..- you can spray it with cologne; put on lipstick and a pretty hat( brush her tusks?) but in the end- ITS STILL A a not so pretty beast.
WELL- WE'RE ALL DOOMED..AND ITS INEVITABLE.
In the 1959 Stanley Kramer film "On the Beach", composer Ernest Gold adapted the music for Waltzing Matilda in a variety of motifs throughout the movie, culminating with a valiant theme as the doomed American submarine crew heads for home. We hear it again as "Taps" in the final apocalyptic scene in the deserted streets of Melbourne, blended with it's ominous companion throughout, the ticking of a watch slowly winding down.
Set five years in "the future" (1964 at the time of it's release), the film tells the story of the survivors of a nuclear war, living out the last months of their lives in Australia, as a cloud of radioactive fallout envelopes the globe. Just three years after the release of this film, we lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis, coming very close to realizing this fictional but prophetic story. Ironically, the stark visual image in the final frame of this film still resonates 50 years later: "There's still time...Brother"
(see context of song and movie above- more like..)
