Wayne Township Trustee throws hat into Mayoral ring
    Dave GongThe Journal Gazette

The primary race for Fort Wayne's top executive position continues to grow.
Wayne Township Trustee Rick Stevenson, a Democrat, announced his mayoral campaign Wednesday morning at the Allen County Election Board.
The Fort Wayne mayoral primary is one of the most highly populated races with eight total candidates from both political parties. In the Democratic primary, Stevenson faces Mayor Tom Henry, as well as challengers Tom Cook, David Roach and John Roberson. The only other primary race with more candidates than the mayor's race is the race for the three Fort Wayne City Council at large positions.
Stevenson could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
The Republican mayoral ticket features Councilman Mitch Harper, R-4th, as well as Frederick Osheskie, and Bill Collins.
Republican Jeffrey Smead also filed campaign paperwork on Wednesday. Smead is running for a spot on the Grabill Town Council. Also running for Grabill Town Council is current Grabill Town Council President Wilmer Delagrange, also a Republican.
Candidates have until noon Friday to file the appropriate paperwork with the Allen County Election Board to be eligible for the ballot in the 2015 municipal primary election.
