one hand scrathce the brothers back

Gina Burgess Kirk Hughes -- There are reasons for everything...and here they are: Mayor Henry's brother, Jerry Henry, usually gets first dibs on these sort of demolition projects. He goes in and rips out the copper wiring, lead plumbing and any other metals to sell for scrap to Steel Dynamics (or one of its holdings, OmniSource, Iron Dynamics, Superior Aluminum, etc). After all the metal is recycled, then Jerry Henry goes in and "recycles" other materials, like concrete. There's big-time money to be made in industrial recycling, especially in this area. Another benefit is cost for services provided (i.e. labor), which around this time of year--Mayor coming up for re-election--that labor will most likely be union workers. Jerry Henry's company gets to charge for the labor (making a small amount of money off of it himself, as do all owners of service-provider companies) and he gets to employ union workers and keep them happy/remind them of the benefits of having his brother in office/etc. Jerry Henry's company used to be called Summit Recycling & Transfer, but has since been renamed--which happens quite a bit. In contrast to metals and material recycles, a premium on labor, and keeping union workers happy, that old school would have been a money pit to operate. As would any homeless shelter that could be set up in a currently available vacant building. Now, I have learned that the City averages 10 "homeless cleanings" a year and has done so for the past five years. So I'm guessing this would be a line item somewhere in the City's budget, but as of this date, I can't find it. It would be interesting to know how much the City is spending on "homeless cleaning." Not sure if that fully answers your question, but am hopeful it will give you some insight. Sally Becker SegersonJoe Renner, Ken Miller, Ed RoseMichelle HillPhillip MarxDonna JamesLexie FretzLavell J.
