Also endorse Harper as top GOP nominee

Even though Mayor Tom Henry unsuccessfully vetoed the ordinance that ended collective bargaining for non-public safety city employees, his bid for a third term has failed to win the endorsement of the union representing Fort Wayne firefighters.
Instead, Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters Local 124 has endorsed Wayne Township Trustee Rick Stevenson over Henry for the Democratic mayoral nomination in the May primary, along with Republican City Councilman Mitch Harper, who supported the abolition of bargaining.
The union said Henry has often failed to live up to his pro-worker promises, while Stevenson has improved services to help clients find jobs.
Other endorsements include 3rd District Republican council candidate Mark Stafford over incumbent Tom Didier; 6th District incumbent Democrat Glynn Hines; at-large Demoratic at-large council candidates Mike Avila, Michelle Chambers and Lloyd Osborne; and Republican at-large candidates Robert Armstrong, Tom Freistroffer and Teresa Sutton.
One council member dismissed the endorsements as "Insane ... all emotion-driven and self destructive."
